[Synopsis]

We would like you to read about the good and passionate character of Akira Kurosawa from his appearance on the set of the movie “Ran”. He is a different person from the legendary “Emperor Kurosawa." I would like you to know that “Ran” was a movie depicted from God's point of view, lamenting the foolish human world that has not stopped war.
Kurosawa's film-making style is unique, but there are many aspects of his directional techniques that can be applied to today's low-budget films. A 150-hour video recording of Akira Kurosawa's “Ran,” recorded between 1984 and 1985, has been discovered. The documentary was produced by a young professional cameraman and a college student amateur recordist who received exclusive permission from Kurosawa Productions and Herald Ace to cover the film.
All the video materials, which were closely filmed for a year, had been missing for many years due to various unforeseen accidents. It was not until 1998 that they were discovered. The old playback equipment was outdated and could not be played back. Only 70 hours had yet to be digitized. In 1984, Kurosawa shot “Ran” saying that this would be his last film. He shot each scene and cut efficiently with three cameras in order to have enough rehearsal time with the actors. This documentary film explores the secrets of the human Akira Kurosawa and the appeal of all the films he directed.
