[Synopsis]
Is the path chosen by one cook lonely and happy?
"To create a restaurant that will last for 100 years." Chef Toba, who said so, had decided to leave the kitchen of the Michelin-starred restaurant "sio." He has opened a succession of different types of restaurants, including a coffee shop, a sukiyaki restaurant, and an izakaya (Japanese-style pub), published recipes on SNS, published a recipe book, and produced food for a number of famous companies. All in order to bring delicious food to as many people as possible and "increase the denominator of happiness."
Chef Toba is a leader of his time, and the sio group is expanding rapidly. However, the too-fast growth and too-large Toba's presence brings friction and hesitation to the staff who work together, leaving behind the family closest to them.
The film closely follows the year from January 2021, when restaurants were hit harder than ever by the voluntary restraint on going out. This documentary follows one chef who continues to run in solitude to deliver happiness through "deliciousness" in a Japan tormented by COVID.
