[Synopsis]

“Death Image,” a paranormal documentary produced in 2015 based on user-submitted footage, features a cursed video titled “Kuniko,” which goes viral on social media in 2025. One day, a woman armed with a knife bursts into the production company behind “Death Image.” When interviewed by a cameraman, she explains that she saw a social media post claiming, “There is a video even more dangerous than the ‘Kuniko’ footage,” and came to steal the videotape. The tape in question had arrived at the production company immediately after “Death Image” was released and had been stored in a warehouse ever since. Upon reviewing the footage, they discover that images of a woman in a kimono with a distorted face have been spliced into ordinary footage.

The cameraman and Naruse, an employee of the production company, go to deliver the tape to the person who made the social media post. The tape was found by the poster, Naito, in an abandoned building ten years ago. Ever since watching it, Naito has lived in fear of a creepy face that appears in the corner of his vision. To fulfill Naito’s wish to return the tape to the abandoned building, Naruse and the others scramble to find the location Naito had visited. Naito’s memories of that time are hazy; he only remembers that the tatami room where the tape was found had cushions arranged at regular intervals, and the phrase “Igyoten,” which is related to the abandoned building. As the investigation progresses, they discover paranormal footage of a haunted property in the production company’s archives. The footage shows a report on a property where a college student died under suspicious circumstances, and it captures the moment a male production assistant utters the word “Igyoten” before dying.

Later, they discovered footage of two women encountering paranormal phenomena at the very ruins Naito likely visited. The archival footage, which varied in origin and era, all depicted the tragic fates of those involved with the ruins, and it became clear that even the survivors had suffered severe distortions in their memories and cognitive abilities. The influence of the ruins extended not only to Naito, who had actually visited the site, but also to Naruse and his team as they continued their investigation. The footage consists of records related to the ruins and distorted memories. What is the truth, and where does the curse begin? Who will uncover the truth behind the ruins of “Igyoten”...?
